Butterfly Cover up (Neck Tattoo)
Background:
While we understand some tattoo ideas may not be decisions at the time, at least we know how to fix them. This lady originally had her ex-boyfriend’s name tattooed on her neck. Darwin came to the rescue and drew up two beautifully coloured butterflies over top “Adrian”.

Scorpion Coverup (Butt Tattoo)
Background:
The original tattoo (pictured first above) was 10 to 15 years old and the client was looking to have it updated. The tattoo, which was located on his butt, was given new, current colours – retiring its outdated 1980′s chrome.

Cover Up: Whale to a Flower (Wrist Tattoo)
Background:
The original tattoo from another shop was of a whale, which was small, fading, and wasn’t happy about it. After seeing Peter, a yellow flower was traced then drew on by Peter.
Remember: Just because you have a tattoo doesn’t mean you can’t update it!

When a Cover Up is Necessary: Scorpion
Background:
The scorpion is the client’s Chinese year, and was looking to have Yovany cover up his previous tattoo (which he wasn’t satisfied with). This tattoo needed a quick turn around time and Yovany was able to complete it fast and efficiently. The results are pretty amazing, and the before/after is almost as drastic as Yovany’s previous lion tattoo.

Red Phoenix (Foot Tattoo)
Background:
This tattoo was originally a cover up for a poorly tattooed flower. With lots of colour and sharp designing, Yovany drew a phoenix over top it. It represents new birth and spirituality.

Cover Up: Home for an Elephant (Lower back tattoo)
Background:
This cover up was made on a tattoo that was done five years ago (and regretted it after a year).
She was looking for something different, and decided to get a tattoo of elephants – an animal that she’s very passionate about, and also volunteers at an elephant adoption centre.
Every place she went to before Black Line Studio declined her idea, citing not only its difficulty, but its impossibility. Darwin took on the difficult task of designing a cover up. The result was exactly as she pictured it: a happy elephant that found its home on her lower back.

When a Cover Up is Necessary: Blossomed
Background:
Not sure what was going on with the previous tattoo. In the first photo you can see a cherry blossom (that actually resembles more of a green clover) done in green ink and scarred from the tattoo artist pressing to deep with the tattoo machine (it’s much more visible in the second photo).
The client drove down five to six hours from Penetanguishene based on a referral from a friend. Darwin did a freehand sketch (in the first photo) then covered up with a proper cherry blossom. Unfortunately there isn’t much that can be done for the scarred tissue, but the end result looks 1000% better!

When a Cover Up is Necessary
One of the worst things you can do is get a tattoo when you’re vacationing at one of the tourist trap tattoo shops. Especially when you were so drunk that you don’t remember getting it.
This poor fella had a tattoo done for him while on a trip to Cancun, and he only found out about it when he woke up the next morning. Hangover pills couldn’t cure this mess.
Fortunately he came by Black Line Studio to see Yovany about getting a cover up. Restructuring the face of the lion (so it doesn’t look like it was copied from a children’s book), and covered up the Leo sign with a tribal design behind it.
